My TBR tower is taller then me

The time has come again to A.T.L.A.S  …….. Wait…. Can an acronym be a verb? Well, I am Adding to Large Ass Stack and if you think conjugating a pronoun preposition is a waist of time, I agree. I don’t even know what those words mean. But for a real waist of time you should study my Hairy ball problem ..I mean THE! THE Hairy ball theorem**

…… um …  never mind   …..  This  is a book haul Post. Lets get to the books.. What? You want to know about the hairy balls?  OK ill explain my Hairy balls, but you asked for it.

The hairy ball theorem of algebraic topology states that there is no nonvanishing continuous tangent vector field on even-dimensional n-spheres. For the ordinary sphere, or 2‑sphere, if f is a continuous function that assigns a vector in R3 to every point p on a sphere such that f(p) is always tangent to the sphere at p, then there is at least one p such that f(p) = 0.

In other words, it is the mathematical explanation for Donald Trumps hair…

Now lets talk about books!

The first book is actually three books from Jon Sprunk. I had read BLOOD AND IRON book 1 in the Black Earth saga a year or two ago. But when I got an email from Lisa at Prometheus books asking if I would like to read the upcoming third book, BLADE AND BONE they sent me E-books of the first 2 books as well. So I got BLOOD AND IRON, STORM AND STEEL, and BLADE AND BONE.

dice7Here is the blurb for BLADE AND BONE

In a world reminiscent of ancient Egypt and Babylon, where God-Kings and God-Queens hold the power of life and death in their hands, Horace, the onetime slave who became a powerful magician, has turned the tables on his former masters.

Horace, Alyra, and Jirom navigate the hurdles of managing the slave rebellion under the Akeshian Empire’s nose. But evil is not content to sit back and let them gather their strength. A new threat is coming in the form of an unstoppable army of the walking dead. To face this enemy, our heroes will have to dig deeper and find a strength they didn’t know they possessed.

In the spirit of full transparency I actually just finished this one … er  this two. Each book has gotten better with book 3 getting 4 stars but I will be posting a review soon. Just like I am posting this in a timely fashion….

Then from an old friend of the blog and SPFBO contestant comes An Ill-Fated Sky (A Star-Reckoner’s Legacy #2)

by Darrell Drake

We did a giveaway for an autographed copy of book one in this series, A Star-Reckoner’s Lot, last year and Darrell was brave enough to stop in and answer a few goblin questions. If you all comment on this post that you would be interested maybe I could get another autographed book from him for a new giveaway. This one will be out on Mach 31st. Since I used this cover as the main post photo I give you something I made Sunday when more then half my town had no TV internet or phone for 7 hours. It was quiet.

In other words ….Here is the blurb.

Tirdad will forsake honour. With his sword, or on it.

All his life, Tirdad has been an honourable man. Right until the point where honour made him run his sword through his beloved cousin, ending her rebellion.

Wracked with guilt, Tirdad is ready to forsake his honour, forget the past, and forge a new path ahead, but in a cruel twist of fate, Tirdad becomes bonded to the blade that made him a kinslayer. Cursed by the sword, Tirdad inherits both his cousin’s planet-reckoning powers and the conspiracy against her that forced her into rebellion.

The celestial powers are now his to command against those same enemies, if he dares risk the mayhem that inevitably follows, but he may not have any choice if he wants to unravel the plot that destroyed his House. Divs, yazatas, star-reckoners, Tirdad will face them all as he travels across Iran, sowing chaos and reaping curse.

Next is The Hidden Face (Fifth Unmasking #1)  by S.C. Flynn

contenI received an E-book copy from the author. This one is already out and I have heard some really good things from my fellow bloggers.

It was a very long day Here Be Blurbs.

A face without a face – an unmasking that leaves the mask.

Once every few hundred years the sun god, the Akhen, takes on human form and descends to earth. Each Unmasking of the Face of the Akhen ends one era and begins another; the last one created the Faustian Empire. Where and when will the Face next appear, and who will he – or she – be?

Dayraven, son of a great hero, returns to Faustia after years as a hostage of their rivals, the Magians. Those years have changed him, but Faustia has changed as well; the emperor Calvo now seems eccentric and is controlled by one of Dayraven’s old enemies. Following the brutal murder of his old teacher, Dayraven is drawn, together with a female warrior named Sunniva, into the search for an ancient secret that would change the fate of empires.

The Hidden Face is an epic fantasy novel drenched in the atmosphere of the early Middle Ages and in Kabbalistic riddles and is the first book in the Fifth Unmasking series.

See what I did there? The title of the book is The Song For All and I used a Album cover but changed the word Base to Blurb! Haha I kill me, also I should not be left alone with no internet

A former warrior caught between gods and priests must fight for the survival of his family in this dark epic fantasy debut, set in a harsh arctic world inspired by Scandinavian indigenous cultures.

Thanks to the publisher and the author for that one.

And then I got an email from Nick Sullivan the author of a great book called Zombie Bigfoot, that I reviewed here.  He is also an excellent Audiobook narrator. He has narrated over 200 books and was recently chosen by audible to narrate some of Robert McCammon’s earlier books. So a big thanks to Audible and Nick for the audiobook version of Stinger

In the remote Texas town of Inferno, a creature of evil beyond anything the world has ever encountered descends. He traps the town and ravages the land with grisly executions and horrible mutations . . . until the people rise up in a final, desperate battle.
