I am sure you will love it.
Let me start by saying how pleased as punch I am to see you misbegotten (*1) trollymogs (*2) here. I know you are busy playing with the squirrels (*3) But I promise it won’t take you long to read this review.
- *1 unlawfully or irregularly begotten; illegitimate
- *2 village-bicycle or Town tramp
- *3 being nuts
I love that last sentence don’t you? I couldn’t stop laughing the first time I read it. Hell I still laugh every time I read it.
Although enjoyable this book was not exactly what I was expecting. I thought it would be a list of polite insults to say in different situations Like this.
While there certainly was some of that it was more of a history of how insults and cuss words changed from then to know. And while I loved the history part it didn’t really go further back then Victorian times and only brought up words from England and France for the most part.
I Abso-fucking-lutely loved this part about acronyms and the word Fuck
The only words that were completely new to me are a few ways of saying Pussy whipped. (*4) The old way is actually so much better! A man would be betwattled or for a Female, They might become cocksmitten. Its almost romantic don’t you think.
- *4 A man who compromises his manhood in order to pacify the woman in the relationship for the purpose of maintaining access to the vagina
And while I knew Old Vicky was a Puritan of sorts I was not aware it went to these lengths.
Final thoughts
It was an amusing way to spend a hour. it was a short book I doubt it even took me that long but I didn’t pay attention so I am guessing. At 143 pages it is short and I had a E-book so the main use for a book like this as a coffee table book for the guests wouldn’t really work. I am going to give 3 out of 5 stars
